Superintendent's Welcome Message

Welcome to the Loomis Union School District.  I am truly honored to serve as your Superintendent.

Loomis Union School District (LUSD) has earned a reputation for academic excellence, and the boundless opportunities that extend beyond the classroom setting are exemplary.  We offer robust options for students at all grade levels, including co-curricular and extracurricular activities.  LUSD offers Spanish, music, and physical education to all students and band and choir to our fourth-eighth grade students.  In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in various sports through our Loomis Basin Athletic League in grades fourth-eighth.

The people in our community make a difference every day for our students!  Our staff is dedicated to meeting each child’s academic, social and emotional needs. Our School Board and district leadership are committed to providing each school with the necessary resources to ensure success. And, parents and community members give to our schools generously in terms of their time, talent, and resources.

We pride ourselves on working tirelessly to prepare our students to be successful leaders of the 21st century.  LUSD has embraced innovative instructional programs, including two International Baccalaureate Schools (Loomis Basin Charter and H. Clarke Powers) and the Ophir STEAM Academy (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).  We are committed to all students in LUSD receiving an engaging, innovative, and academically challenging instructional program.

Student safety and security continue to be a high priority in LUSD. We take a  proactive approach by regularly evaluating our procedures and practices, working closely with local law enforcement,  and making necessary changes to improve the safety and security of all staff and students.  All seven of our schools promote safety and positive student behavior through daily instruction.  Four of our schools (Franklin, Placer, Penryn, and Loomis Grammar School) are state-recognized for implementing the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.

Please take the time to explore our website to learn more about LUSD. If you are interested in becoming part of the LUSD family, please visit our district office at 3290 Humphrey Road or call us at (916) 652-1800.

I look forward to working with everyone in our community to continue propelling our district forward!
