Welcome to the Loomis Union School District.
There are several reasons why LUSD is a district of choice for many families across Placer County. Our hard working staff is dedicated to meeting each child’s academic, social and emotional needs in and out of the classroom. Our School Board and district leadership are committed to providing each school with the necessary resources to ensure success. In addition to our outstanding staff and excellent academic instruction, LUSD offers Spanish, music and physical education to all students; band and choir to our fourth-eighth grade students; a supportive and generous community; and most importantly, outstanding students.
One of our greatest strengths is the sense of community that radiates from each of our schools and throughout our district. Parents and community members give to our schools generously in terms of their time, talent and resources. A key component of a successful and thriving community is how education and the educational experience is supported and valued by all community members. In LUSD we are blessed by the support we receive and our students are the true benefactors.
LUSD has embraced innovative instructional programs including two International Baccalaureate Schools (Loomis Basin Charter and H. Clarke Powers) and the Ophir STEAM Academy (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). We have made tremendous growth in expanding the availability of technology for our students and staff. At LUSD we are committed to preparing our students to be successful leaders of the 21st Century.
In recent years the concerns about school safety and security have been elevated as a result of incidents across our country. We continue to be proactive by regularly evaluating our procedures and practices and making necessary changes to improve the safety and security for all staff and students. All schools in LUSD now have security cameras throughout the school. In addition, we reviewed our daily procedures and safety plans with local law enforcement and will be implementing recommended changes this school year. Student and staff safety and security are extremely important to us and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement to evaluate and improve our policies and practices.
Please take the time to explore our website to learn more about LUSD. Our Board of Trustees meets on the first Thursday of each month and I encourage you to attend a meeting.
