The Half Marathon enjoys a unique point-to-point scenic route with

gently rolling terrain starting in Auburn at Placer High School and finishing at the

Train Depot in downtown Loomis. 

 

The feedback from previous year's participants has been great. 

Many will come back for the route alone.

    HOW TO REGISTER

     

    • Race Morning - (available for 5K only, no same day 1/2 marathon registration)
      • At the Race Start/Finish Area, the Loomis Train Depot Plaza
      • Late Registration opens at 7:30 AM
      • Cash, check or credit cards may be used for race day registration
      • Please note that shirts, styles and sizes available while supplies last for entries received after November 1st. (If not registered by November 1st, you will be directed to pick up a t-shirt after check-in and while supplies last.)

    ENTRY FEES (including all online charges & race management fees)

    1/2 Marathon - 93$ by 10/31, $104 11/1 to 11/23, no race day registration (there are no child discounts for 1/2 marathon registration)

     

    5K - $40 by 10/31, $50 11/1 through race day.

     

    Children's 5K  - $29 by 10/31, $34 11/1 through race day.

     

    Standard Entries Include

    5K Technical short sleeve t-shirt (guaranteed only if registered by October 31)

    Half Marathon Technical long sleeve t-shirt (guaranteed only if registered by October 31)

    Chip timing (5K & Half by Capital Race Management; Bibs should be prominently worn on the front of the body, on the outermost layer of clothing, during the entire event.) 

    Finisher's medal for first 200 finishers (1/2 Marathon only)

    Age Group awards 1st - 3rd for both 5K and 1/2 marathon

    Age Groups: 12 & Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

    Those registering online will receive an automatic e-mail confirmation of entry.

     

    Online Registration

    The additional costs (now included in prices noted above) are the surcharge or "convenience fee" that covers the costs issued by the credit cards / online registration company. We work hard to find the best rates to keep the surcharge as low as possible.

     

    Refund Policy

    All entries are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances. Event happens rain or shine.  We now offer a refund insurance you’re welcome to purchase at the time of registration.  See more details on the registration website.

     

    Registration Closing Date

    Registration for the 1/2 Marathon closes at 3:00 PM PST on November 22nd, 2025 for online registration. There is no race day registration for the 1/2 Marathon.

     

    Registration for the 5K run will close at 3:00 PM PST on November 22nd, 2024.  Same day registration begins on November 23rd at 7:30 AM. ​

    CHECK IN

    Saturday November 23rd:

    10am - 1pm 

     

    Sunday, November 24th:

    Loomis Train Depot Plaza

    3640 Taylor Road Loomis, CA 95650

    1/2 Marathon: Check-in begins at 6:15 AM (Race start time 8:00am)

    5K: Check-in begins at 7:30 AM (Race start time 9:00am)

     

     

     

    COURSE SAFETY

    Roads are not closed for this event. You will be sharing the road with vehicle traffic and must obey pedestrian traffic laws. Participants should use caution and keep to the shoulder. 

    Traffic will not be held for walkers. Walkers need to proceed through intersections when safe to do so as permitted by traffic signals or signs, or when directed by a volunteer or law enforcement officer.

    After approximately 10:30 am traffic will not be held and extreme caution should be used crossing streets. Only cross as permitted by traffic signals and signs. 

    Volunteer cyclists will lead out the 1/2 marathon from the start and proceed in front of the 1st runner to the finish line. A cyclist will also trail the last runner.

     

    COURSE DIRECTIONS

    1/2 Marathon:

    Starts on Stadium Way above the Placer High School Track in Auburn and ends at the Train Depot in downtown Loomis. 

    See map under Course Maps tab. (This course will be marked with mile markers and direction arrows.)

    Bib number color is green for this course. 

     

    5K:

    Loop from the Train Depot in downtown Loomis out Taylor Road, Turnaround on Rippey after 2nd Rippey Road intersection, then return on Rippey Road. Watch for turnaround point. (This course will be marked with mile markers and direction arrows.)

    Bib number color is white for this course.

     

    PARKING

    •   Loomis Grammar School, Taylor and King Roads 
    •   Blue Goose Fruit Shed gravel parking lots
    •   No Parking in Front of the Blue Goose 
    •   Unmarked residential streets 
    •   PLEASE NO PARKING AT TAYLORS RESTAURANT OR BESIDE ACE HARDWARE

     

    DO NOT PARK IN THE AREA BETWEEN THE RAILROAD TRACK AND THE FENCE. Vehicles parked in the gravel railroad right of way are subject to immediate towing, a $2,000 fine and possible damage to the car if a wide-load train passes. 

    Please observe No Parking Signs at business locations. Vehicles are subject to immediate towing. 

     

    1/2 Marathon Parking: 

    For those NOT taking the shuttle:  Free parking is available at the starting line in the upper parking lot on Stadium Way above the track at Placer High School. NOTE: There is no shuttle back to the start.  

     

    1/2 Marathon Shuttles: 

    7:10 am Sharp. Shuttle services from race check-in to start at Placer High School Stadium. Shuttle pick-up is at the Loomis Depot, end of Horseshoe Bar Road at Taylor Road. 

     

    DROP BAGS

    Drop bags may be checked in near the registration area or left at the start and transported to the Loomis Depot and can be picked up at the check-in table. 

     

    STROLLERS

    Strollers are welcome!  We enjoy seeing families come out.  All participants are welcome to run or walk, please be mindful of your fellow participants by moving to the side if you are a walker.  

     

    ANIMALS/PETS ON COURSE

    Only registered and licensed service animals are permitted on the course due to insurance requirements.

     

    AID STATIONS

    Water and Gatorade will be provided at Aid Stations.

     

    Course Aid Station Locations:

    1/2 Marathon: 

    Aid Stations will be at approximately 2.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 8 miles and 10 miles.

     

    RESTROOMS

    At Check-in:

    • Restrooms near registration are at the south of Loomis Depot and in the parking lot area. 

     

    1/2 Marathon Course restrooms will be located at: 

    •   The Start in the parking lot on Stadium Way 
    •   Prior to mile mark 2 (Mt. Vernon @ Collins Dr.) 
    •   Approximately mile 6 (Ophir @ Geraldson)
    •   Approximately mile 8 (Newcastle Cemetery - Taylor Road @ Cardoso)
    •   Approximately mile 10 (just before Valencia Club)
    •   The finish line.

     

    5K Course restrooms will be located at:

    •   The start/finish at the end of Walnut Street 
    •   Registration 

     

     

    REFRESHMENTS

    End of run refreshments will be provided between the finish line and the Train Depot

     

    FIRST AID

    First Aid is available at the Train Depot. There will also be first aid providers patrolling the route. 

    For emergencies the Loomis Fire House is located 1/2 block from the Depot on Horseshoe Bar Road

    Aid Stations will have first aid kits

     

    AWARDS AND FESTIVITIES

    Award presentations will be in front of the Train Depot at 10:15am. 

    •   Medals for all 1/2 marathon finishers up to the first 300 finishers
    •   Medals for female and male age division winners 1st – 3rd
    •   3-5 lb. bag of Mandarins* to the 1st male and female of each age group

    *dependent on availability of annual crops

    Packet pick-up will be available on two dates this year for both 1/2 marathoners and 5K participants:

    • Saturday, November 22, 2025 between 10AM-1PM at Loomis Ace Paint Store 3701 Taylor Rd Suite 100, Loomis, CA 95650
    • Sunday, November 23, 2025 at check-in the morning of the race starting at 6:15AM at the Loomis Train Depot Plaza at 3640 Taylor Road Loomis, CA 95650.

     

    Those who provided their email address during the registration process will get an email a couple of days before the event with important information and any changes or updates.

     

    Item Pick Up

    Items (sweats, extra shoes, etc) placed in registration packet bags may be left at the kiosk near the registration tables and picked up after the race.  Please make sure your bag is properly labeled with your bib number and name.
